3 Vtg Wick-Werke Steins 1 Texas 2 Paul Bunyan Pewter Lids Collectors Convention

For your consideration are three (3) Wick-Werke German steins, one featuring the state of Texas and two featuring Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox. These are vintage originals produced between 1960 and 1972.

All three are the same basic stein, are a light cream color. They measure approximately 6 ½” tall at the thumb handle, have a pewter lid with a beaded pattern around the circumference and all the lids are solidly attached to the handles of the steins.

There are two (2) identical Paul Bunyan steins in this lot. One side of each reads, “Stein Collectors International Convention No. 6 Minnesota 1972” and has a colorful picture of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox. The other side of each reads, “Danke Schön Paul Bunyan John Boller and the Upper Midwest Society of Steinologists”. There is a painted blue stripe around the top and bottom of each which shows some loss.

There is one Texas stein and it is painted most of the way around with a blue and white diamond pattern background, has pictures of the Alamo, the state of Texas with a Lone Star behind it. The top of the star depicts an oil rig. Around the entire star are the words, “Texas*Big Bend*Kings Ranch*Alamo*Cattle*Oil*NASA*Cotton Bowl*Rio Grande*Lone Star* Brewery*Oil*San Jacinto*Oil”. One side reads, “Stein Collectors International Convention No. 7 San Antonio, Texas 1973”, while the other side reads, “Prosit Fredlein & Marie Schroeder”. This stein is in sturdy condition however the paint all around is chipping off very easily although the pictures are still very clear. The lid has some scuff marks on top and there is some light crazing on the handle. Under the handle there is a box that reads, “In Memoriam Edwin Langham”.

All three are marked with the signature impressed nesting W’s on the bottom and are stamped “Made in Germany” in ink. Close to the top of the handle, it is impressed 0.5 L indicating capacity.

These steins are all in sturdy condition however there is loss in paint and there is some crazing.
