For your consideration is this antique Syracuse China chocolate pot. According to Kovels, this dates to the late 1800s. The base is marked, “OP Co. Syracuse China 56803 SAMPLE” and the lid is marked, “56803 SAMPLE”. This must have been either a salesman or store sample. The pot looks like it has seen little use, though there is a repaired chip on the underside of the lid (see pictures). There is no wear to the gilding. This measures 7 3/4″ tall including the finial on the lid. The quality is extra fine on this and I think it is as good in terms of quality as most of the Limoges companies that I see.
