Here is an Native American woven basket. This features a faded red and green zig zag design. It has handles and is oblong shaped. The color scheme and design tells me it is from one of the Northwestern Thompson River tribes, more then likely the Salish, as that is the styling they were most known for. The style of this particular basket would be for gathering food and crops, such as berries, fish, and things. This measures 6″ high with out the handles, 11 1/2″ with the handles, 14″ long, and 5″ wide. The dye is has some fading and the handles have a little fraying, due to the amazing craftsmanship of this basket, that is likely over 100 years old, it is in great condition, even usable. This piece of Native American history would be a great addition to any collection or just for use as decor in a home or office. Please see pictures for more details.
