For your consideration is this antique late 19th century silver plate and glass ornate claret jug with lid. It is marked Sheffield. The top rim, handle and lid are made of silver plate. It measures approx. 9” tall x 5” diameter at widest. The top opening is 1 ½” diameter. It is marked “Sheffield” and “4741” is etched under the lid. The clear glass is rippled and swirled with a pontil on the bottom. The handle has a man’s face. The lid has leaves and an acorn. There is an ornate metal design decorating this claret jug. It is good condition with no chips or cracks. The lid hinge freely works.
