For your consideration is this beautiful majolica tobacco jar.
The sides are emblazoned with a hand-colored and vibrant scene of a girl being chased by a rooster, as well as a hen and chicks pecking away at the ground. In the background are windmills and a distant village. Quite lovely.
The lid has a figural pipe as the handle. The base of the jar is marked with the number 8407.
This piece measures about 5″ in diameter and 6″ in overall height.
There is some crazing noted, as well as a chip to the inner lip. The chip isn’t visible with the lid in place.
