Venetian Colored Engraved Print by Antonio Visentini /Canaletto Framed Venice 14

Description

For your consideration is this antique colored print engraved by P.V. Visentini and designed by Canaletto. The print is entitled “Areae majoris San Marci Prospectus ad Templum San Geminiani” (Piazza San Marco Looking Towards San Geminiano). The print depicts Venice in color. The print is not signed so it isn’t know what year it is from, but the original was etched in 1735, and this could possibly be a reprint made in the later 18th century. The number 14 is in the bottom right corner under the signature. The image measures 10 inches by 16 3/4 inches. With the frame, the measurements are 17 1/2″ by 23 1/2″. The image is in great shape, and the modern wood frame has three different ways to hang the picture and is in good shape with some wear. Some of the the gold trim is falling off, and there is some paint loss on the right side of the frame. Please see the pictures for more detail.
