For your consideration is this Vintage This is a very nice old stoneware raised relief 0.25L lidded German beer stein handmade and hand-painted probably in the early 20th century. The bottom bears the mold number 1821 over 12 with what appears to be hand inscribed XJ and the Marzi & Remy mark which was used by the firm between 1879 and 1964. The stein is approximately 7″ tall to the top of the lid finial and there are no chips, cracks or repairs. The lid strap is tight. The front of the stein depicts a beautifully raised scene of a hunter presenting a dog to a seated woman. The side designs are vines with leaves and buds. The legend reads, “Erst prob’s dann lob’s” (“First taste it, then praise it”). Please see pictures for more details.
