Description

For your consideration is this RARE Set of Four (4) Porcelain Ladles. Each piece is Hand Painted. There is a very beautiful Blue Wildflower pattern on these pieces and they are nicely Gilded on the rim. We believe they are of Meissen make. We bought a large collection of this pattern and some were marked with the crossed swords and some were not.

These pieces do not have their handles.

These pieces are unglazed on the inner rim.

The History of Meissen porcelain is fascinating, secretive and informational. It was only by accident that the secret of Chinese porcelain was discovered by Johann Friedrich Botteger. While searching for a way to turn worthless metals into Gold he stumbled across the process for Augustus the Strong (Augustus II) King of Poland. Wanting to keep this discovery a secret, King Augustus built Albrechtsburg Castle to produce his porcelain. Albrechtsburg Castle was surrounded by mountains for protection but also had tributaries leading in and out to help in the shipping of materials and product.

MEASUREMENTS: Each ladle stands 1 1/8″ tall and 3 1/4″ in diameter.

Condition: Good. There are no chips, cracks or repairs done to two of these pieces. Two others have one (1) chip each in the rim. See pictures for details.
