For your consideration is this 17 Pc Hand Painted Nippon Tea Set with the Pagoda Mark. All the pieces depict Oriental Japanese Woman wearing traditional clothing by a lake and houses. All of the pieces except for the saucers are marked with a Pagoda mark that reads Hand Painted Nippon. I’m couldn’t find information online or in my books to tell me how old the mark is but I’m fairly certain that the set is at least 100 years old. The following is a list of what is included in the set and the measurements and condition notes:
1-(2 Pieces) Teapot w/Lid- 4 1/4″ tall without lid, 4 3/4″ tall with the lid, 5 1/4″ in diameter, the lid is 3 1/4″ in diameter and the lid is 1 1/2″ tall. There are no chips or cracks and the gilding and paint are in great shape.
1-(2 Pieces) Sugar Bowl w/Lid- 3 3/8″ tall without the lid, 3 7/8″ tall with the lid, 6 7/8″ long with the handles, 4 1/4″ diameter. There are no cracks or chips and the color and the gilding are great.
1- Creamer- 3″ tall, 3 5/8″ in diameter, 5″ long with the handle. There were two spots that look to have been painted over because of chips on the top gilded edge. The color looks good and and the gilding is nice. There are no other cracks or chips on this piece.
4 Small Saucers- 4 3/4″ in diameter (one is slightly bigger at 4 7/8″). There are two saucers with small hairlines on the back of the plate saucers that can’t be seen from the front. The other two don’t have hairlines and none of them have chips.
4 Cups- 2 1/8″ tall, 2 1/4″ diameter, 2 7/8″ long with the handle. Three out of four of the cups don’t have any chips or cracks, but one has a faint hairline from the top edge. They have amazing hand painted designs and gilding that are in nice condition.
