ANTQ Bavaria Signed HP Grape Vinyard 15.5" Tankard Scalloped Gilt Dragon Handle

For your consideration is this late 19th century to early 20thC Bavaria hand painted tankard. This tankard is signed by the artist, but the name is not able to be read. His image depicts purple and green bunches of grapes on a vine with a multicolored background changing from brown to green to yellow to orange to blue. The tankard features a gilded dragon handle with a scaled back and a head, tail, and feet that stick out as if it were on the tankard itself. This piece has a scalloped gilded trim around the mouth as well, and it measures 15 1/2″ tall by 6 1/8″ in diameter at the base. The tankard is unmarked, but we have matched the handle design to other Bavarian tankards. There is an incised mark on the inside edge of the base that is number 2402. The tankard is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or fleabites. There is some wear of the gold color on the spine and inside of the dragon handle. This is an excellent piece to add to your hand painted Bavaria collection. Please view pictures for more details!
