For your consideration is this hand-carved wooden mask made by the Punu people of Gabon Africa. This mask features a coiffure hairdo with lateral crests, large protruding lips, closed eyes and facial marks of lizards, and a lozenge cicatrization on the forehead. The face is embellished throughout in copper and there is copper-colored raffia around the bottom of the face. The mask measures about 16″ tall by 11 1/2″ wide by 6″ deep. This mask is solid with an aged patina. It is in good condition. There is some wood loss on the edges of the crested hair. Please see the pictures for more details.
